Earning a CMHS diploma

  1. Earn 21 credits in the specified areas
    1. 4 credits math, including Algebra II or the equivalent
    2. 4 credits English
    3. 3 credits science, including 1 physical, 1 life, and 1 advanced
    4. 3 credits social studies, including world studies, American history, and American government
    5. 1/2 credit PE or 2 PE waivers
    6. 1/2 credit health
    7. 1/2 credit financial literacy
    8. 1 credit fine art
    9. 4 1/2 credits electives
  2. Demonstrate competency
    1. All students will take the Algebra and ELA 2 EOCs. Students need a 684 on each test to demonstrate competency.
    2. If after 2 attempts students have not earned a 684, they may also demonstrate competency by:
      1. demonstrating 2 career-focused activities
      2. enlisting in the military
      3. completing CCP coursework in the needed subject area
    3. See the coursebook or your school counselor for more information
  3. Demonstrate readiness (earn 2 seals, at least 1 of which must be a state-defined seal)
    1. OhioMeansJobs Readiness
      1. Demonstrate proficiency in each of the 15 identified professional skills
      2. Using the OhioMeansJobs Readiness form (linked below), document how you have demonstrated these skills at school, work, or in the community
      3. Have each skills validated by at least one of three mentors
    2. Industry-Recognized Credential
      1. Earn a 12-point industry-recognized credential, or
      2. Earn a group of credentials totaling 12 points in a single career field, or
      3. Obtain a state-issued license for a practice in a vocation that requires an examination
    3. Honors Diploma
      1. Earn an honors diploma (see course of study for requirements)
    4. College-Ready
      1. Earn remediation-free scores on the SAT or ACT
        1. Currently, these scores are:
          1. ACT - 22 on Math & Reading, 18 on English
          2. SAT - 480 on Reading & Writing, 530 on Math
    5. Military Enlistment
      1. Provide evidence that a student has enlisted in a branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, or
      2. Participate in an approved JROTC program for a minimum of 2 years
    6. Biliteracy
      1. Meet the requirements and criteria, including proficiency requirements on assessments in a world language and English (see ODEW website for more information)
    7. Science
      1. Earn a score of proficient (3, 700) or higher on the Biology EOC exam, or
      2. Earn a final course grade that is a "B" or higher in appropriate classes taken through the CCP program, or
      3. Earn a final course grade that is a "B" or higher in an advanced science course (Zoology, Anatomy, Physics, Chemistry, Forensic Science)
    8. Citizenship
      1. Earn a score of proficient (3, 700) or higher on both the American History and American Government EOC exams, or
      2. Earn a final course grade that is a "B" or higher in appropriate classes taken through the CCP program, or
      3. Earn a final course grade that is a "B" or higher in the American History and American Government courses
    9. Technology
      1. Complete 1 credit of CMHS Digital Technology courses, or
      2. Earn a B or higher in an appropriate CCP technology course, or
      3. Earn a score that is at least equivalent to proficient on an appropriate AP or IB exam
    10. Community Service*
      1. Complete an administrator-approved service project
      2. Complete a 25-hour log and a final experience reflection (linked below)
    11. Student Engagement*
      1. Participate in at least 2 seasons/years of activities with a minimum 80% participation level
      2. Complete Engagement Seal Verification form (linked below)
    12. Fine and Performing Arts*
      1. Earn 2 fine arts credits
      2. Participate in at least 1 school-approved performance/contest
